Boardwise exists because working out how many sheets or lengths of timber a project actually needs is a fiddly, easy-to-get-wrong job — and getting it wrong means a wasted trip back to the shop, or paying for offcuts you never use. Boardwise takes a list of finished part sizes and turns it into a feasible sheet and timber quantity, packed against real UK stock sizes, with an indicative cost and a shopping list you can take straight to the till or a cutting service.

Who it's for

Boardwise is built for people planning a woodworking or joinery project in the UK: home DIYers building furniture or storage, hobbyists working from a workshop or garage, and small trades who want a quick materials check before quoting or ordering. You don't need to know sheet-packing maths or timber stock-length conventions — Boardwise handles that and shows its working.

How it works

You enter the finished size of each part you need cut. Boardwise packs those parts onto standard UK sheet sizes (accounting for trim, saw kerf, and grain direction where it matters) or against standard timber stock lengths, then shows the quantity you'd need to buy, an indicative cost, and a cut list. Every assumption — reserve stock, layout choices, price source — stays visible, because a materials estimate you can't interrogate isn't one you can trust.
